Agrigem hosts a successful open day

Agrigem has opened its doors for the official opening of ‘Gem House’ with guests attending a champagne reception before the unveiling and a tour of the new 6000sqft office and warehouse headquarters.

The building was opened by the chairman of the Amenity Forum, Professor John Moverley OBE. John was chosen for this role as he plays a key part within the amenity agrochemical and horticultural Industry and after the continued support he has shown Agrigem over the years, he was the perfect candidate for the job.

The Amenity Forum was formed in October 2003 as a key action to support the voluntary initiative, an industry led project agreed with government to reduce the environmental impact of pesticides and promote ‘best practice’ objectives within amenity pesticide use which is something that Agrigem advocate on a daily basis.

Agrigem have invested £750,000 in the relocation of its headquarters and includes 4000sqft of specialist racked warehouse space to house 185,000 litres of hazardous product; and 2000sqft of office space which is designed to accommodate 15 full time employees. The neighbouring unit has also been secured along with expansion land at the rear of the building to allow future growth and storage needs. The building has many features that were incorporated in to its build, to not only comply with the various environmental implications but also to provide a nice working environment for all of the team.

Founded by Managing Director Kieran Would in 2013, the company has grown into a multi-million pound business and specialises in a number of products including weed killer, fertiliser, grass seed and advice. The warehouse will store various specialist products, which are destined for everything from gardeners, farmers, top class golf courses, racecourses, and football pitches.

Kieran said: "At any one time we have around £500,000 worth of product in stock; this is shipped out to our 17,000 registered customers across the UK and into Europe. Over the next 6 months we anticipate to dispatch around 25,000 individual parcels and around 600 pallets.

"The site was chosen partly for its prominent location and excellent transport links, but also because it is one of a few semi-rural industrial parks which offer excellent property for freehold purchase. Stirlin Developments have done a fantastic job and even better that we have been able to support a local company in the process.

"This is an incredibly exciting time for my team whose hard work has made it all possible; we have seen exponential growth over the last three years and we are confident that the relocation can continue this."

Agrigem are continuing their employment drive and are hoping to take on 3 full time members this year.
