Charcon to showcase award-winning product at cycle events

Charcon, the commercial hard landscaping division of Aggregate Industries, will be exhibiting at a number of cycle events that are taking place across the country throughout 2017, starting with Cycle City Active City Bradford from May 11-12.

The events form part of a series of ground-breaking conferences and exhibitions for all those working to encourage and implement safer cycling across Britain.

In keeping with this, Charcon will be exhibiting their Eco Countryside Cycle Kerb Segregation System that was developed specifically for the Mayor’s flagship Cycle Superhighway 2 (CS2) between Aldgate and Bow in London in 2016. This bespoke product won Best Innovation (use of technology or new technique) at the Cycle Planning Awards 2016 and is already helping to reduce the number of accidents on London’s roads.

Adaptations of the product will also be on display and have been used by various local authorities in the UK to improve road safety. Cities that have installed this innovative cycleway segregation system to date include Bradford, Cambridge, Leeds and Nottingham, plus discussions are ongoing with a number of councils across the UK.

Mike Davies, Sector Marketing Manager for Charcon comments: “The trend for cycling has increased significantly in the UK and, as a result, the number of cycle-related incidents on our roads has also increased with fatalities in London reaching 33 at its peak.

“Since the Eco Countryside Cycle Kerb Segregation System was installed in London, the number of accidents has been reduced and we look forward to seeing similar results in other cities. We are hoping to work together with additional councils in the future to continue to aid safe cycling nationwide.”

Come and meet the Charcon experts and learn about the benefits of the various cycle segregation systems available, whilst enjoying a healthy snack from Charcon’s pedal-powered smoothie maker when you ride on their Smoothie Bike.
