Sutton United's 3G football turf pitch installed by S&C Slatter has been chosen as the venue for the England v Slovakia C International Challenge Trophy game on June 5.
The FieldTurf Vertex 3G football turf system was selected as the new playing surface for the Borough Sports Ground pitch last summer and introduced using a fast track installation process. This enabled the construction programme to be completed during the close season without the loss of any home fixtures for the club.
During this season the 3G pitch has received universal praise for its play quality. Players, officials, fans and the media have all commented on the "˜natural' ball performance, and welcomed its ability to host games when traditional grass pitches have been under water.
Paul Fairclough, the England C Manager has commented "˜I have heard excellent reports on the quality of the surface at Sutton and we are looking forward to visiting Gander Green Lane in June'.
Meanwhile, Bruce Elliott, Chairman of Sutton United is understandably a very proud man "˜Coming at the end of such a successful first season with our 3G surface, this is a tremendous honour for Sutton United'.
S&C Slatter, in conjunction with FieldTurf, also recently used the Sutton United ground for a 3G Stadium Pitches Workshop attended by clubs from all over England. The day featured presentations from a panel of independent experts covering the whole process of converting to 3G football turf technology – from feasibility, through funding, business planning, design, to construction and aftercare.
In the last two weeks alone, Eastbourne Borough FC of the National League South and Tamworth FC of the National League North have both announced that they have appointed S&C Slatter to build a 3G football turf stadium pitch. They will join National League South Maidstone United and Newtown AFC of the Welsh Premier League as owners of S&C Slatter-built 3G stadium pitches.
Newtown's Latham Park pitch hosted last season's Welsh Cup Final and featured in the club's venture into competitive European football as Newtown qualified for the Europa League.
S&C Slatter have been Sports Construction Specialists for over twenty five years, operating throughout England and Wales on artificial pitch projects of all sizes and complexities for Football, Hockey, Rugby, Lacrosse, Tennis, Cricket and Multi-use Games (MUGA).
And in partnership with FieldTurf, S&C Slatter is also currently working on a number of pitches under the Football Association, Football Foundation, Rugby Football Union, Sport England, English Hockey Framework.
