Following their success during Playbuilder, York-based timber manufacturer SJ Danby Playscheme are now investing heavily in public play parks with the launch of their new bespoke timber Play Towers.
It has been working closely with both Wigan Council and the friends of Haigh Hall Country Park in Wigan on the refurbishment of the run down existing play area.
The Friends Group failed in a bid to the Lottery People's Millions for £50,000 but thanks to an investment of £20,000 by Wigan Council from Section 106 funding, the project has been kick started with the installation of Playscheme's new timber Pyramid Adventure Play System.
Leader of Wigan Council, Lord Peter Smith said "investing in children and young people along with promoting a healthy, active lifestyle are priorities for us at Wigan Council and we believe that the new adventure play equipment will make a real difference to families which use Haigh Country Park."
A Friends Group has been formed to address many issues within Haigh Country Park and they now hope to secure a bid to Wigan Councils "Deal for Communities" fund to complete the refurbishment of the adventure play area with Playscheme which will see the installation of a 6mtr Pyramid Sky Tower and stainless slide.
John Hulme, Chairman of The Friends group said: "we are really excited to see this fantastic piece of play equipment open at the park, just in time for the summer break – it's a welcome addition to the site and already a hit with younger visitors to the park, we now hope to secure the funding to raise the profile of Haigh Hall Country Park with one of the best adventure play parks in the district."
Sales Manager of SJ Danby Playscheme, Andy Brook states: "we now have to create Play-spaces in the UK and not Play-grounds by creating state of the art adventure play areas, here at Playscheme we are very excited with the launch of the new timber Pyramid Play Towers which will come in heights of 4,5 and 6mtrs which will help to put adventure and excitement back into play."
