SCAG have taken on the manufacture of a well-established range of blowers and vacuums, and STM have them as part of their sales range.
SCAG decided to take on the manufacture of blowers and vacuums to complement their well-known and well-respected range of mowers and purchased the "Giant-Vac" company.
There then followed a long development period whilst they rationalised existing design and manufacturing in keeping with the acknowledged high standard of SCAG build.
They are distributed in the UK by STM Co Ltd and will complement grounds maintenance equipment already in the STM line up of SCAG mowers, Humus safety mulching and low-profile flail equipment, and RoboFlail remote control mowers.
Starting with the Consumer Vac: This is a pedestrian unit for "direct capture" of leaves and debris in the easy-to-remove 280 litre capacity bag. The intake nozzle is 650mm wide, and can be easily adjusted for height and angle from the handlebars. With a 5.5HP Subaru motor, a sturdy frame, optional and easily mounted hose kit, plus excellent performance even with wet leaves, this is proving to be a good seller for STM.
Next in the range are the wheeled Classic and Extreme "cyclone" type blower types. There are three in the Giant-Vac range, all featuring comfort-grip handlebars that house the throttle control and selector for discharge direction. Motors go up through the range from 5.7 to 11.7HP, delivering CFM rates from 1392 up to 2824.
STM have found the next-up TL20W tow-behind unit has found favour, with a major Council, for example, having just purchased four in one go. The range is 26.5 / 29HP with a hand-held and supported 12" dia hose and overhead discharge chute leading to an 8" dia flexible steel tube. CFM rate is 4680. The unit has two large wheels at the back and a jockey wheel on the trailer hitch.
These are sturdy, reliable, well-built machines, all featuring ease of general maintenance and with easily accessed and replaceable wear plates. Coming from a company with such strong provenance in the groundcare sector, STM have full confidence in the product range.
The machines are available through the STM dealership network.
