Young designer makes use of Wienerberger pavers

A gifted landscape gardener incorporating Wienerberger pavers in her design work has been announced as a finalist in this year’s Royal Horticultural Society’s Young Designer Awards.

Ula Bujauskaite from Northampton is exhibiting her design at Tatton Park as part of the yearly competition aiming to help launch the careers of aspiring young horticulturalists and landscape gardeners. Wienerberger Astra Tegel TF pavers play a central role in her design.

The brief for this year’s competition was ‘A Garden Office’ and asked finalists to create an outdoor workspace Ula’s conceptualisation of the theme led to her design ‘Studio Unwired’ – a contemporary outdoor hot-desk office envisaged in an urban setting Inspired by her childhood memories of Baltic landscapes, the design evokes coastal hinterlands and seeks to create a space that emanates tranquillity. It exudes a rustic elegance which transports users out of crowded and conventional facilities into a serene and earthy environment.

An inspirational and mood-enhancing environment, the design work speaks of the wider movement within landscaping and architecture to create spaces that positively impact the lives of those who inhabit them Wienerberger’s construction solutions are aimed at helping affect positive change to the quality of people’s everyday lives, and Ula’s design work helps exemplify this overarching goal Her design is beautifully refined but rich in character, allowing for the authenticity of the materials to be enhanced.

Commenting on the use of the Astra Tegel pavers in her final design, Ula said: “They were a perfect addition to the naturalistic and earthy nature of the garden. They blend in to the overall colour palette seamlessly, adding another level of detail and enriching the garden’s unique coastal character.” She added that the new square format to the units added “a contemporary twist on a traditional material”.

“Wienerberger’s team is great at understanding your design aspirations and providing you with a variety of options and possibilities to improve the quality of a space you are creating,” Ula commented. “It also helps knowing you won’t ever be disappointed by the quality of the products too.”

Category Marketing Manager, Joanne Roberts, commented: “Ula’s design is stunning and provides a real showcase for our Tegel pavers. We’re thrilled she has chosen to include them in her work.

"Wienerberger is committed to helping provide construction materials that improve the quality of life for people and communities and we put a great emphasis on the importance of design work, like Ula’s, and how they positively impact people’s outlook on everyday life.”

Part of Wienerberger’s Dutch collection of clay pavers, the Astra Tegel TF pavers offer a reliable paving solution and provide a realistic and earthy finish to landscaping projects. Ula swept kiln dried sand into the joints of the pavers to add extra texture and shade to the finished piece.
