Brian Keighery from B.A.K. Services in North Lincolnshire has over 30 years’ experience with forestry, plants and machinery. Originally the company’s primary focus was fencing services, but as time went on Brian was approached with mowing contracts.
Brian quickly realised he needed to invest in some mowing equipment, so that he could fulfil and maintain the new contracts. After purchasing his first cylinder gang mower he began to wonder if there were more efficient ways of working. “There were far too many moving parts which wear out quickly and cost a lot of money replacing. In addition, the blades needed constant adjustment and the cut finish wasn’t brilliant.”
Being a small business, it was vital for Brian to ensure customer satisfaction. He visited Roger Moffatt from Bertie Green in Dunstable andasked for his advice. Following Roger’s recommendation Brian decided to purchase a second hand Trimax ProCut. “Despite it being a second-hand machine, it was in immaculate condition and has never missed a beat.” The ProCut is a rotary mower known for its versatility and low maintenance.
The business kept growing and considerably larger mowing contracts had been secured. Seeking more advice from Roger Moffat, Brian explained how he required a wider rotary mower, but one which didn’t require him to purchase a bigger tractor. “Roger instantly recommend the Trimax Snake so Brian went home that night and watched the Snake videos online until his phone battery died”.
After much consider ation “my wife and I agreed we needed to make the investment. It was a hard decision but Roger managed to secure us a second-hand machine which was in mint condition”. Brian confirms “it was the best decision I have made” the Trimax Snake is “onehell of a machine” and “how it cuts both long and short grass he same is unbelievable”.Brian goes on to say “there is no real maintenance on the Snake;I grease it, clean it and sharpen the blades. That’s all that is required. Compared to the gang mower where I couldn’t go anywhere without a bag of spanners. It’s incredible” .One particular mowing contract has to be completed on a Sunday, when the track is clear of horses.
“Previously with my cylinder gang mower it used to take me all day but now we’ve got the Snake I’m back home by 2pm to enjoy the rest of my weekend. I’m so glad I bought the Snake”.
