Addagrip's Terrabound Resin Bound system was selected for the surfacing element of the new Hawkhead Centre in Paisley, Scotland.
The newly opened building, a custom built hub for the visually impaired, is the result of a collaboration between Page\Park Architects and the charity, Scottish War Blinded.
Addagrip approved contractor Resarf Flooring Ltd, part of the Fraser Bruce Group, was invited to install over 1700m2 of the BBA approved Terrabound Resin Bound porous surfacing system, specified by Ian White Associates Landscape Architects, to the pathways and courtyard areas at this state-of-the-art activity centre which provides services for veterans of the armed forces who are visually impaired.
The Terrabound surfacing is smooth, seamless, has good slip resistance and is porous to ensure no surface water, making the pathways safe and comfortable underfoot.
To complement the contemporary design and building materials used, two contrasting Resin Bound Terrabound natural aggregate blends were selected; Terrabound Chocolate Buff and Terrabound Rhine Gold to offering a practical paving solution.
The BBA certified Terrabound Resin Bound system creates hard wearing, low maintenance pedestrian areas, ensuring that the pathways will be fully accessible and easily navigable for the centre’s users.
The site is also home to the Royal Blind charity’s Jenny's Well Care Home which specialises in nursing care for older people with sight loss. This is the first time that a Royal Blind service and a Scottish War Blinded service have been constructed side by side.
