Cobra Garden

Cobra has a

Cobra mower range features rear rollers, rotary and cylinder machines to suit
all requirements.
Whilst
regularly mowing is a key way to ensure healthy green grass, Cobra has some
other simple steps that can be taken to ensure your lawn is at its best year on
year.
Cobra’s rear
roller machines will create a perfectly striped finish. Stripes are
created by an alternating mowing direction that allows the roller to flatten
the grass whilst it cuts - mow the lawn up and down with a roller mower to make
the stripes.
To
aid this, Cobra has this year launched two new rear rollers mowers featuring
innovative engine technology. The two mowers are both self-propelled with a
three-speed transmission and six height of cut settings, ranging from 17mm to
75mm to give the perfect finish throughout the season. They are both powered by
Briggs & Stratton InStart engines, that enable them to start at the push of
a button without recoil and the need to pull the petrol cord. The RM433SPBI has
a 17” width, 150cc displacement and 50 litre grass bag capacity. The RM513SPBI
is ideal for larger gardens with a 20” width, 70 litre grass bag capacity and
163cc displacement courtesy of its Briggs & Stratton 675IS InStart engine.
Whilst it
might be tempting to start the season with a severe cut to remove all the
length, the best way to keep the grass healthy it to be gentle and use a high
cut setting. This protects the grass’ roots which will be soft and delicate
after the winter. A short cut will weaken the grass and encourage weeds and
moss problems. Cobra recommend regular cutting after the first mow, and
gradually lower the height of the blade every week or every fortnight,
depending on how quickly the lawn is growing. Cobra machines all feature easy
to adjust settings to allow this.
Ultimately
grass is a plant so needs lots of care, attention and feeding. It is important
to protect and take care of its roots. The first step in this is ensuring that
the roots get plenty of oxygen and that drainage is maximised. The best, and
easiest, way to do this is by using a powered aerator that spikes the lawn,
removing compaction and increasing air circulation.
Finally,
Cobra recommends the use of a scarifier to remove dead grass and thatch build
up which leads to an unsightly lawn. Thatch can prevent air and sunlight
getting to the grass, which is turn causes more problems. A scarifier power
rake gathers all the debris so only the healthy grass remains.
