The post-summer garden tidy up can often be a chore, and can feel as though it is also the clearing away remnants of light nights, warm temperatures and blooming gardens.
But autumn, with its stunning foliage and beautiful colours, has lots to offer too.
With just a few simple tips, you can love your garden in autumn as much as you do in summer.
Keeping an autumnal garden clear can be a relentless task with daily raking to keep leaves at bay. Leaf blowers offer a powerful solution and can gather leaves in moments.
The most efficient way is to make sure you only blow in one direction, then hold the blower at your side and walk slowly with the leaf blower in front of you.
Start at the edges and blow inwards toward the middle of the lawn, making manageable piles as you go along. If it’s a windy day, work with the breeze and not against it.
There are various options for collecting the leaves. The first is to lay a tarpaulin or sheet before you begin and blow the leaves onto it as you go along, this makes for easy disposal. Alternatively, you can simply gather the piles manually, or by using leaf grabbers.
However, to really remove all effort from the task and stop any back-breaking crouching and bending, another option is to have a blower with a vac function too.
The Cobra BV26C is an incredibly powerful blower with a 26cc petrol engine that converts to a vac in an instant, simply by changing tubes so leaves can be cleared and collected easily, all by one machine.
When it comes to disposing of the leaves, Cobra also has a solution. You can of course compost them straight from the ground, but with the BV26C you can utilise Cobra’s 10:1 mulching function which breaks the leaves into tiny pieces before they go into the collection bag.
You can then empty the bag and have a generous supply of leaf mould to use as nutritious compost.
