Mecalac wins ‘best live demonstration’ at Plantworx 2019

Mecalac Construction Equipment UK took home gold for ‘best live demonstration’ at this year’s Plantworx exhibition (11-13 June).

Amid some very impressive displays, the company’s 11MWR, 6MDX, TLB990 and 6MCR thoroughly impressed judges. The live action construction event, which took place at the East of England Arena, brought together visitors from across the UK and Europe.

Mecalac presented a number of its latest models at the event, showcasing the characteristic performance, productivity and safety of its compact construction equipment. The company also exhibited a number of new range additions, highlighting innovative new designs and class-leading operator technologies. The new models included:

Mecalac 3MDX – The latest payload addition to Mecalac’s pioneering cabbed site dumper range, the 3MDX features a 37kW (50 HP) Kubota D1803 diesel engine and boasts a ground-up focus on site safety features. With operator technologies including driver presence detection with seatbelt warning, stop-start, idle shut off, auto park brake test and a service alert, the model sets new standards of safety, comfort and productivity.

With an operating weight of 2810kg the 3MDX delivers outstanding manoeuvrability and a hydrostatic transmission offering a top speed of 19kph for improved productivity. The new model set to be launched in 2020 meets Stage V emissions standards.

Mecalac TV1200 – While most tandem rollers are manoeuvred using a steering wheel, the TV1200 has been reimagined with a joystick design. With their back comfortably against the seat and right hand on the joystick, the driver has complete freedom to position their legs comfortably while keeping their eye on the work.

Mecalac’s latest tandem roller concept (which is looking to be available in 2020) has also undergone an extensive facelift, with the entire architecture redesigned for better visibility to ease operation. It is safe and simple to use, confirming Mecalac’s ingenuity and innovation.

Mecalac MBR-71 – Redesigned to incorporate hydrostatic drive, the MBR-71 pedestrian roller delivers greater flexibility and ease of use for site workers. Specifically designed for the compaction of granular and asphalt materials, the MBR-71 is perfectly suited to applications including highway repair, footpaths, cycle lanes, playgrounds and landscaping environments.

Removing the clutch and belt arrangement results in fewer maintenance requirements, while a 35% increase in water tank volume has significantly increased working range. Moving operating controls to the handle ensures safer and more ergonomically-friendly operation, complementing a new ‘spring applied’ hydraulic release handbrake, which activates when pressure is lost to maximise operator safety.

Mecalac MCR range – Updated for 2019, the latest MCR crawler-skid excavator from Mecalac features a Stage V-compliant engine, new rejuvenated hood design and an optional excavator type boom on the smallest model. Compact, productive, fast and efficient, the MCR can switch from compact tracked excavator (top speed of 10 km/h) to loader (360° rotation capability) within seconds.

Available in three model variations – 6MCR (0.49m2 bucket capacity), 8MCR (0.53m2 bucket capacity) and 10MCR (0.75m2 bucket capacity) – each unit is powered by a 55kW engine and features unbeatable total swing diameter.

Mecalac TLB range – With acceleration and road speed essential for high operator productivity, Mecalac’s renowned backhoe loader portfolio has been revamped for 2019 to incorporate all-new Carraro direct drive transmission. Passing the drive shaft through the centre of the torque converter, the system operates in third and fourth gear, optimising performance and maximising output.

Allison Sedgwick, Operational Marketing Manager at Mecalac Construction Equipment UK, commented: “Taking home gold for ‘best live demonstration’ was testament to the team’s hard work and creativity in designing and planning the stand for this year’s Plantworx exhibition. The win was made all the more impressive by the other excellent displays we saw over the event’s three days.

“Despite the poor weather, there was a great turnout. We debuted a number of new models at the show and received a lot of positive feedback on the new designs and equipment technologies. It was a resounding success and we look forward to doing it all again in 2021.”
