Construction is underway at Loughborough University this week, on a new 3G pitch that will be used for football and rugby. SIS Pitches are on site for 12 weeks, to complete the full process from start to finish, including the design, construction, manufacture and installation of the pitch.
As one of the leading sports universities in the world, Loughborough University currently have 4 pitches from SIS Pitches on campus, including a one-of-a-kind elite level water-based hockey pitch and a SISGrass hybrid pitch, which is the same style of pitch used at the 2018 World Cup.
The new pitch will have SISTurf Xtreme Ultra installed, which is designed to give supreme performance and extreme durability. This product is tested to FIFA Quality and Quality Pro standards and meets World Rugby standards. SISTurf is made in the UK from the finest quality yarns and technology, at one of the most technologically advanced production facilities in Europe.
“This pitch will really complement the other facilities we have for football at the University and we can’t wait for it to be completed,” said Richard Allen, Director of Football at Loughborough University.
Joe Shaw, Sales Manager with SIS Pitches, added: “We are delighted to have been selected to construct the new state-of-the-art synthetic football and rugby facility at one of the leading sports Universities in the world.
“For this fantastic project we will be utilising our brand new ‘X Generation’ yarn technology and SISGrade EPDM infill materials. This will continue our close working relationship with the University in sports construction, surfacing and research.
