The GMA has decided to not hold the GMA (previously IOG) Awards again this year as everyone recovers from the grip of the pandemic.
The organisers said it would be unfair to judge teams based on the challenging circumstances over the past year, and the GMA also acknowledged that it takes significant resource to submit applications for teams and individuals.
CEO Geoff Webb said: “We’re certainly keen to celebrate the contribution of all grounds staff, volunteers and businesses – which is why we decided to launch #GroundsWeek in support of the sector and all the efforts involved.”
The GMA has previously confirmed that the #GroundsWeek campaign will run annually, with the next date confirmed as February 28 to March 6 2022.
“We believe that the awards are an integral part of grounds management and the GMA itself, and are working hard to renew and relaunch ready for 2022 submissions,” added Geoff Webb.
