A return site visit to Hitchin Market Square in Hertfordshire by www.PavingExpert.com, found the refurbished traditional granite sett paving, repointed by GftK's vdw 850 Paving Joint Mortar in the winter of 2010, still looked like it had been recently completed.
The expert report explained that the paving had been patched and pointed, re-pointed and grouted, glued and all sorts over the years, but nothing lasted long. The local authority and consultants undertook some tests and found one promising product – GftK’s vdw 850 from NCC Streetscape.
In late 2010 the market repointing was completed on time and on budget, primarily because work could continue using GftK's vdw 850, despite the wet weather and low temperatures throughout, which would have made any cement-based pointing doomed to failure.
After more than 10 years, the historic market is looking great and an asset to the Town, plus it will continue to be for a good few more years yet.
