Supplied by the Illminster based Loxston Groundcare dealership, contractors H2 Environmental have added a Kubota powered, 38hp radio controlled Irus Deltrak 2.5 mower/tool carrier to their fleet.
Commenting on their acquisition proprietor Kevin Harvey said: "This is an important investment. We chose the Deltrak following rigorous assessment of the options and decided it was the best fit for our business which is based on forestry, both planting and maintenance, fencing and ground maintenance for a range of clients which includes the Forestry Commission and National Trust.
"We have also already used the Deltrak at a huge local Tungsten Quarry site. We cut and maintain all types of ground and growth including Gorse and Bracken, much of which is located on steeply sloping terrain. The Deltrak has both the power to clear the ground in one pass and also stay stable at working angles of 50 degrees.
"The innovative design means the tilting engine sits lower than similar machines, enabling weight transference when traversing across slopes and the low centre of gravity provides optimum traction on softer ground. We have been trading for around 10 years and feel the addition of the Deltrak to our armoury means we can increase capacity and also address the important issue of operative health & safety."
Peter Loxston added: "Since our appointment in April this year as UK distributor for the Irus product range we have seen tremendous interest and demand. The range can be a real asset as a part of the fleet, for local authorities, landscaping contractors and utilities. Track options include rubber, rubber with metal inserts and spiked while attachment options are stump grinder, capable of mulching a 200mm branch or 400mm stump with one pass, forestry mulcher and a flail deck.
"They are "˜go-anywhere' machines capable of mowing in places where people can't. Operated by way of multi-channel radio with a range of up to 300m and designed for mowing and maintenance of vegetation on precipitous slopes, parks, roadside verges and railway embankments, they offer reduced risk of injury to operators. The new 2.5 version of the Deltrak is the most developed machine currently on the market.
"A host of improvements include self-cleaning radiator, improved track carriage, increased frame strength, improved stepper motors and transmission valves plus transmitter and receiver improvements give the user a very low impact, high performance machine."
