RTC Safety Surfaces has installed a fun and engaging wet pour play surface for The Community School of Auchterarder.
Covering a total area size of 417m², the vibrant design has transformed the playground.
Onto a prepared sub-base of MOT Type 1 stone, RTC began the installation by adding a layer of SBR (Styrene Butadiene Rubber) base. Once this had cured, it applied line markings to the base layer and mapped out the design.
Consisting of a black roadway with line markings and zebra crossing, chessboard, 1-100 number checkerboard and a crocodile hopscotch, the detailed design required artistic wet pour skills.
Gradually, the top layer of EPDM wet pour was laid within the markings, one colour at a time. This process required careful planning as touching colours cannot be installed until the first colour has cured. Shapes including the road markings and 1-100 numbers on the checkerboard were then carefully hand-cut out by the company's skilled workforce. Additional coloured wet pour was then poured, levelled and screed within the shapes to complete the design.
