Timberplay create play area to go wild in
Timberplay are delighted to have created the exciting and challenging new play area Yorkshire Wildlife Park.

The play area is fully open for the summer season and is already proving extremely popular.

Yorkshire Wildlife Park is one of the fastest growing visitor attractions in the UK, with visitor numbers growing from 66,000 in the first year to 680,000 seven years later.

Innovative reserves designed around the needs of the animals have created a unique walkthrough wildlife park and visitor experience which is rated very highly on Trip Advisor. Play areas are an important part of the attraction mix for the family audience and with the development in a new area of the park of a brand new camel reserve, the Masai Coffee Shop and picnic area, the time was right to boost the outdoor play facilities with a custom built play area from Timberplay.

Launched at Easter as the Oasis Adventure Play Area, this spacious play area contains a wide selection of play equipment, chosen to appeal to children from the very young through to teenagers. Toddlers and young children are catered for with a large sandpit, building site, see saw, balance blocks, jumping flower, play huts, dwarf hill, swinging horses, jumping discs and a specially modified whirligig, created to resemble a meerkat. Utilising sand as a safety surface has increased the play value of the space significantly

Older children are spoilt with a huge selection of more challenging play equipment. A large climbing structure and a triangular platform combination, both of which can hold huge numbers of children at any one time, promoting the development of not only motor skills, but also key social skills such as negotiation. The huge Triple Beam Swing adds high energy fun, as the three beams respond to one another to create an exciting ride. Again, this swing is able to hold significant numbers at any one time, so it is perfect for a play area with very high visitor numbers. Always a popular addition, the Cable Way also adds an alternative thrill.

See saws, both traditional and Jack Straw, together with a Nest Swing complete the extensive product range. Yorkshire Wildlife Park also selected wood chip as the safety surface across the wider site, creating a space that not only looks great, but also offers exceptional play value.
