Society of Garden Designers to unveil new brand and website

The Society of Garden Designers (SGD) will unveil a dynamic new brand identity and website at its annual Awards Ceremony (7 February 2025), as it rebrands itself as the Society of Garden + Landscape Designers (SGLD).

The new name and accompanying rebrand have been developed to better reflect the diverse and evolving nature of the Society, as well as the size and scope of projects that its members undertake.

These exciting new developments are the culmination of a longstanding commitment from the SGLD Council to expand its membership community, enhance its brand position and reinforce its values and aspirations.

A new SGLD websiteSGLD website will accompany the rebrand and serve as a vibrant platform to capture the spirit and creativity of the Society, showcase SGLD designers’ work, and be a lively hub for collaboration and inspiration.

Ahead of the Awards Ceremony Andrew Duff MSGLD Chair of the SGLD said: "This momentous step forward for the Society reflects a collective vision by the SGLD and its members for inclusivity and modernity. The rebranding initiative represents more than just a change in name, it paves the way for a refreshed identity, complete with new typographical logos and a state-of-the-art website.

"It's a significant period in the garden and landscape industry with horticulture and ecology coming together and the ongoing dialogue around it. It feels like an exciting time to be a garden and landscape designer and I hope the environmental concerns we’ve been championing over many years will now come together and be embedded in our everyday practice.

"Our new online presence will not only highlight the Society’s dedication to excellence but also position its members at the forefront of the industry."

The SGLD website features a fresh new palette of colours showing bright green, pink and red balanced with neutral off-white, green-grey and pure white to add warmth and energy. In addition, a master set of 21 plant graphics has been developed to add colour, depth and a sense of playfulness to materials and digital platforms. The plant silhouettes, depicting flowers and foliage, have been designed to pop-up like self-seeding plants interlinking with graphics and imagery.

As well as the development of the new graphic identity, the SGLD has taken the opportunity to refresh its Values around ideas of excellence, community, creativity and transparency to support its Mission to 'inspire garden and landscape design that enriches homes, places and lives'.
