Groundwork publishes 2023/24 Impact Report

Groundwork has released their impact report for 2023/24 which shows the scale of the difference they are making in towns and cities across the UK to ensure a fairer, greener future.

Communities across the UK benefitted from over £1.1m of investment through Groundwork delivery, supporting 16,053 local organisations including 7,224 charities and 3,210 schools.

The report details the impact of programmes such as New to Nature, that has supported 98 young people into green careers, and Green Doctor – where nearly 15,000 households were advised on energy and water efficiency and supported to save an anticipated £2.4m in domestic utility bill savings – and outlines Groundwork’s collective impact that helped 68,672 people to make greener choices.

Graham Duxbury, Groundwork UK’s Chief Executive said:“Anyone glancing at the news headlines or scrolling social media will be forgiven for thinking that our communities have never felt more divided and more powerless. Although the threats are very real – from extremism to the impacts of climate change – the stories and statistics to be found in our impact report are a heartening reminder that there are people and organisations across the UK working to build common ground, to improve our wellbeing and to repair the damage being done to our shared environment.

“We strive to empower people to tackle the issues that matter most to them, and we couldn’t do this without the support of our many partners and funders, for which we are immensely grateful.

“I’m enormously proud of the work Groundwork does to help build a fairer and greener future in which people, places and nature thrive, and know that this work has never been more important.”

Groundwork is focused on connecting people with each other, with opportunity and with nature, and always tries to deliver social, economic and environmental outcomes in an integrated way, generating even greater impact in the places that need it most.
