Newby Hall and Gardens near Ripon, Yorkshire, renowned for its Adam Style architecture and twice-winner of the “Historic Houses Garden of the Year,” uses a 4m Major Swift Roller Mower to maintain the immaculate standards expected by its thousands of visitors.
“We often get over 2,000 visitors a day,” said Grounds Manager Nigel Allison. “With 300 acres of parkland and 25 acres of formal gardens, every part of the estate must look perfect.”
Their ageing cylinder mower was replaced with a Major MJ71-400 Trailed Swift Roller Mower, cutting mowing time in half while delivering a superior finish.
Nigel and his team trialled several models before selecting the Major Swift. “Its build quality was far beyond anything else. It’s easy to maintain, with no belts to wear out and a fast height adjustment between 10 and 130mm.” The mower's three cutting decks and front/rear rollers ensure a flawless cut, even over undulating terrain.
Since its introduction, Newby has seen improved grass quality and a beautifully striped finish, matching or surpassing that of their previous equipment. “We’ve reduced maintenance and downtime significantly,” says Nigel. “Labour efficiency is up and the result is visibly better.”
