A flail mower or rotary mower is ideal for verge cutting, according to Business Division Manager Jon Cole at Reesink Turfcare, Toro distributor in the UK.
“These can handle longer grass, less frequent cuts, and are cheaper to maintain,” he says.
Flail cutting heads on the Toro LT-F3000 can cut long and short grass, wet or dry, and with the added benefit of an interchangeable cylinder attachment, it offers the capability for the front-facing triple mower to cut two ways when needed.

Having a mower that can tackle the most challenging environments and terrain with greater ground contour control, and then multi-task by leaving a premium finish on playing fields and sports grounds, is a really cost-effective solution, Reesink Turfcare suggests.
Andrew Gilliar, Countrywide Grounds Maintenance franchise owner, comments: “We needed a machine versatile enough to deliver a consistently good cut regardless of grass type, grass length or weather conditions. You get this from the LT-F3000.”
It is also road legal which appeals to many including Andrew Bradley, Landscapes manager at HTS Group: “The LT-F3000 is road legal which is ideal for us. Most sites are six miles away, and their proximity to busy roads makes parking a nightmare, being able to drive our machines to jobs is a must. A bonus with Toro’s triple flail is that it has a good road speed.”
Toro’s Groundsmaster 3300 brings similar benefits as the LT-F3000 in a rotary form. It too has an optional flail attachment and can deliver year-round productivity and multiple cutting options, cope easily with longer, coarser, dry or wet grass and combat extended mowing cycles.
This mower moves from job to job quickly thanks to the 23kph transport speed; the 1.5 and 1.63m cutting decks are productive, and the 54 lire fuel tank maximises mowing time and minimises downtime to refuel. Toro’s CrossTrax all-wheel-drive system provides automatic traction control by shifting power to the wheels in slippery conditions, and a 7.8-inch ground clearance makes it easy for the mowers to climb kerbs and manoeuvre over obstacles.
