Keswick Reach Lodge Retreat is the latest luxury holiday park by Darwin Escapes, and opened earlier this year after significant refurbishment. Located within the unique environment of the Lake District, the Retreat is set within an area of greenspace, mountainous landscape and freshwater lakes.
Wildflower Turf were commissioned by environmental consultants RPS Planning & Consultancy to advise on the most appropriate landscaping approach in terms of wildflower planting. Particularly important to RPS’s client, Darwin Escapes, was the need to create and maintain a naturalistic setting, in keeping with the surrounding landscape.
After considering several bespoke turf options, RPS decided to use a Wildflower Turf off-the-shelf blend, Landscape 34. Comprised of 34 UK native wildflowers and grasses (with a minimum of 75% wildflowers) Landscape 34 is also low maintenance and requires only one to two cuts per year. Wildflower Turf Ltd provided 24,600m² of turf over a period of six months, which equates to nearly three hectares of wildflowers or three football pitches!
This carefully selected Wildflower Turf installed by RPS complements the local lowlands landscape and provides a high quality, instant-effect naturalistic setting to the holiday park. Shade and drought-tolerant, Landscape 34 is also weed-supressing, very easy to handle and install, and delivers a guaranteed wildflower environment with a minimum of fuss.
