An independent wholesale tree nursery has recently traded-in a 16 year old Kramer 418 with over 12,000 hours on the clock for one of the same manufacturers latest 5065 models.
Deepdale Trees of Potton, Sandy specialises in the supply of mature trees from 2 to 14 m in height to the commercial landscape trade and private customers across the UK and has used all types of machine on its 44 acre site since the business was established in 1995. However, Kramer machines have always been favoured, with three units currently earning their keep on site.
The Kramer fleet, consisting of a pair of 850s plus the new 5065, is used on a daily basis to lift and carry trees between the container and dispatch areas. The compact 5065 loader was chosen for its ability to gain access to all the confined areas which had proved a tight squeeze for the larger machines.
Commenting on the choice of Kramer, Deepdale's production director Andrew Fenton said: "They are the real workhorses around the nursery and are fantastic machines for our application. We particularly like the ultra-smooth hydraulics of the latest machines which enables very precise movement of large trees for maximum safety. Also, as they are very reliable and well-built, we have never had a major problem with them."
Kramer's 5065 model is powered by a water cooled Yanmar diesel engine developing 35 kW (48 hp) and features 4-wheel drive and steer, hydrostatic transmission and a single joystick control for all hydraulic and drive functions. The machine can handle a payload of up to 2 tonne in the transport position and has a maximum lift height of 3050 mm.
