Access Platform Sales (APS) showcased some of its most popular crawler-mounted dumpers and tracked access platforms at APF 2014, the UK trade show for the forestry and arboriculture sectors.
The Hinowa TX2500 TraXporter is a powerful, robust 2.5t capacity tracked dumper with a swivel skip which can be operated at the same time as the vehicle is in motion, an advantage over most of its competitors. It also has a 180° rotating seat and controls, so the operator can always face in the direction of travel. The TraXporter is already in production and available to order.
Designed for difficult ground conditions, the TX2500 has a top speed of 7.5mph and a Kubota 4-cylinder 35.9kW (48.8hp) diesel engine. The rubber tracks utilise two fixed and four floating rollers, for powerful and smooth traction. The operator is protected by an FOPS-approved cage and a safety belt. The simple controls include two levers for steering and a smooth accelerator pedal, as well as a one-touch parking brake. The dumper is rated for 1.49m³. Slewing the skip also enables efficient tipping from either side or the rear.
It is one of three Hinowa machines that were demonstrated live throughout the show, which takes place in Warwickshire this week. It was joined by the Hinowa 17.75 spider lift, a compact machine with a travel width of less than 0.8m and stowed height of under 2m, meaning it can pass through narrow gaps and gateways. The Hinowa Lightlift 17.75 has an unrestricted safe working load of 230kg – enough for two people with tools – throughout its entire working envelope of 17m maximum height and 7.5m of outreach. The innovative dual pantograph boom design also allows easy working flush with walls and it has a three-speed drive system which helps reach the work area quickly.
The third demo product was the popular HS1100 stand-on compact mini-dumper with 1,100kg lift capacity. The model on display is fitted with an optional self-loading shovel.
As tracked machines, all three Hinowa products cause little or no ground disturbance when traversing lawns or grass, making them ideal for tree work in landscaped areas. They are also comfortable on sandy or boggy terrain, as well as steep gradients and uneven ground.

Alongside the demo machines, APS also had a static display of other compact Hinowa mini-dumpers, including the new Hinowa HS701, a stand-on, diesel-powered, 0.29m³ / 550kg capacity tracked dumper with a high-tip mast, enabling it to load skips up to 1.35m high. Attractively styled, robust, compact and agile, the HS701 makes fast work of moving sand, gravel, earth or shingle from one work site location to another. Strong customer demand for a machine with this specification led Hinowa to send the first prototype HS701 to the UK. The Italian manufacturer expects to deliver the first production models in November 2014.
Additional products on display included a Niftylift 120T trailer-mounted boom; Ommelift 2350 tracked boom; and Isoli PNT230 boom mounted on a Nissan Cabstar chassis cab.
