Bespoke Bronto units boost access leader's fleet

Ten new, highly specificied Bronto truck mounted platforms have entered Nationwide Platforms' fleet as part of the access leader's 2013 investment programme.

The investment includes seven 38 metre units, two 50 metre platforms, and one 70 metre truck mounted platform. All of the truck mounted platforms have been highly specified to include a number of key innovations which aim to assist the work of customers and operators.

All units have been designed to include a new safety rail that provides a fall arrest system for operators and engineers required to access the truck deck during maintenance and inspection processes. This system, which is now available for general inclusion with most of the Bronto product line, was originally created as a Nationwide Platforms specification.

Additionally, the units also feature a high definition camera system which enables the vehicle's driver to view all blind spots at a glance, ensuring awareness of cyclists to the side and other hazards to the rear, including its tail swing. All of the Bronto truck mounted platforms procured in 2013 are also fitted with telematics, enabling straightforward diagnostics and performance data analysis.

To support the sector specific work regularly taken on by vehicle mounted platforms, such as broadcasting and utilities maintenance, all units have also been fitted with key features to enable their effective use on many applications. This includes earth grounding, media lighting frames and broadcast camera cages.

In a further new addition for 2013, an innovative round ground pad with easy access stowage has been introduced to reduce manual handling risks. The reshaped pads can now be rolled to and from the jack leg positions and stowed away with very little effort.

These features were designed by Nationwide Platforms' Technical Director, John Weights, for the business' truck and van mounted fleet in conjunction with Bronto. Reflecting on the 2013 fleet renewal programme, he said: "The investment in these truly state of the art units significantly boosts our vehicle mounted fleet. We're always looking to provide our customers and operators with the best possible working at height solutions and these ten new Bronto truck mounted platforms add even greater quality to our existing fleet."

Mike Potts, Nationwide Platforms' Managing Director, commented on the benefits of the investment for its customers, saying: "Our 2013 investment programme has further boosted our entire access fleet, reinforcing our commitment to delivering the highest standards of quality to all customers. As our client markets experience an upturn in demand we're making substantial investments to be sure we are now in an even stronger position to support them right across our business."

The units will be available to hire from the Nationwide Platforms fleet this November.
