Falco introduces new automated cycle storage design
Falco's successful automated Netherland-based cycle storage system is to be made available within the UK.

With two new state-of-the-art cycle storage systems being developed for Amsterdam and the Dutch Railways OC Fiets cycle hire scheme, Falco has now also introduced the revolutionary concepts to the UK.

The VelowSpace and VeloMinck are two innovative and cost effective automated cycle parking systems designed to systematically park bicycles above or below ground.

Using an advanced user identification system, the VeloMinck and VelowSpace take a bicycle from the cyclist, park it securely and return it back to the cyclist when required. The systems are unmanned and remotely monitored with lifetime support.

The principle of the VelowSpace is based on a carrousel, in which 24 bikes are effectively parked with their front wheel in front. The bicycles are clamped into an in-house developed and patented front wheel clamp system.

The system has a 3-point lock that guarantees a stable and upright position for the bicycle. The VelowSpace can be used both for rental bikes (as with OV Fiets) or personal bikes and is available in a standard version based on an aluminium support frame and polycarbonate panels or can be designed completely custom-made.

VeloMinck is an innovative bicycle system automatically parks bicycles, out of sight and safe against theft and vandalism. The cycle is taken from the user and transported to a secure storage space and retrieved as and when requested by the cyclist. As with the VelowSpace, the Velominck can be designed for indoor or outdoor use.

Although each design has an internal standardised technical system, the possibilities with regards to design, choice of materials, colour combinations and housing are almost unlimited. The cycle store can be designed to be placed within an indoor or outdoor location.

User identification can be based on different technologies such as Mifare cards, bar-coding or swipe cards.
