FLP recently undertook an opportunity to increase and improve the outdoor facilities provided at Boston Manor Park, London.
Using SAFALOG constructed fitness equipment; the installation matched the environment, expectations and ideas for design.
The brief was to increase and improve on the outdoor facilities provided within the park and to widen the age range of use and, specifically, to provide an adult fitness gym area adjacent, but separate, to the younger play areas within the park.
The customer had previously invested in a range of outdoor dynamic steel gym equipment within the area, which included items such as cross trainers and steel cycles. These items had proved to be such a success that local residents and users of the park had requested that more adult fitness equipment should be installed, but items to promote more of a Calisthenics workout, such as static bar structures and workout benches. Also the pieces were required to be more of a timber construction in order to blend in more readily within the parks environment.
It became clear within the early conversations with the customer that the products to be used should be selected from our range of SAFALOG Adult Fitness units. The laminated split resistant SAFALOG construction is provided with a 15 year guarantee against rot and decay; is durable, hard wearing and its appearance worked well within the environment and matched the customer's expectations and ideas for design.
Location of the area was then all the more important as the original location was observed during a prolonged period of wet weather and it was apparent that this would not be suitable or usable all year round.
The revised location was somewhat more restricted on space and so FLP had to get creative with the design. Eventually, an excellent "gym" style layout was agreed upon, within which we were able to provide a wide selection of lower level core items within this space, such as Beam Lifts, Sit Up Benches, Parallel Bars, Log Stacks, all supplied onto an area of Breedon self bonding gravel surfacing thus ensuring all year round usage of the area.
A second range of higher bar items, such as Chin Up Bars and an Overhead Ladder were then also installed onto the bowling green area, alongside the current steel gym equipment. We then installed our unique all weather Fibre fall Rubber Surfacing beneath these pieces for fall attenuating purposes and for longevity of use.
