IAE, one of the UK's leading fencing manufacturers based in Stoke on Trent, supplied 7000 metres of spectator protection debris fencing for the British leg of this year inaugural Formula E motor racing championship.
Formula E is a ground breaking FIA single-seater championship and the world's first fully-electric racing series.
The season began in Beijing in September 2014, ending in London with the Visa London ePriX motorsport event taking place at Battersea Park in June 2015, with the series competing in 10 of the world's leading cities.
The circuit was designed by British architect Simon Gibbons of Eventual Design and the main contract awarded to Spadeoak Limited. IAE received the order in March 2015 and commenced manufacture of 1800(no) bespoke temporary debris fencing panels and posts in April.
IAE also manufactured some specially designed storage crates to enable ease of transportation and handling on site. The panels had to be stored on their 36 acre site at Mossfield Road, Stoke on Trent ready for distribution during a six-day period in June. Utilising IAE's own fleet of vehicles 7 loads per day were delivered to Battersea Park.
"It is our largest single order to date and we have been privileged to be involved with the inaugural series," said Richard Harper, Director of IAE.
The panels were installed by leading sports fencing specialist, B & L Fencing Services. Tim Long, Managing Director, commented: "This has been a challenging project, working to tight deadlines, alongside many other trades and whilst large areas of the park remained open to the public.
"To achieve the installation in just eight days, (and less time for the dismantling operation) was a tremendous achievement for all involved."
