A manufacturer who supplies self-watering containers and litter bins to councils, Britain in Bloom groups, schools and businesses has launched a new website to celebrate the start of 2015.
Horticultural suppliers Amberol have been making products at their Derbyshire headquarters since 1969. Originally manufacturing absorbent matting, the company has since extended into other areas, developing its own Aquafeed system for use in self-watering containers in the 1970s.
Amberol has also made bins since 1990 and more recently has extended its range to include planterware and street furniture made from recyclable materials. The company exports to countries across the world, including India and America.
The new website was designed to showcase the ever increasing range of products and took three months to put together. The site explains the history of the family-run company and includes case studies, articles and tips on subjects such as creating floral displays and using containers in cold weather.
"Our old website simply didn't do justice to our product range and so, rather than refreshing and updating, we decided to go for a whole new look," explains Amberol's MD, Patience Atkinson- Gregory. "We hope that it will also be a useful source of information on general issues such as recycling and container gardening for current and potential customers.
"The new website includes a lot of images: our aim is to make a visible difference to the streets of the UK and beyond, and our products are best shown in situ forming part of the fantastic floral displays they help create. We also have a wide range of bins to showcase, from colour coded recycling bins to our well known Percy Penguin and Ambere bins."
Amberol bins and containers are all made from recycled polyethylene and can be supplied in 18 different colours, including sunflower yellow and poppy red as well as the more traditional muted colours.
Patience has a special loyalty to the company as it was set up by her father Phil Atkinson and his friend Jack Williamson. To this day, Amberol remains very much a family business with Jack's granddaughter Kay and Patience herself involved in the running of the business.
"We may be a well-established company with a sense of history, but we feel that our new website brings us bang up to date," she adds.
