The Carlton 1712 woodchipper is now available in the UK, exclusively from Orange Plant. Offering a 305mm chipping capacity, this high productivity machine is ideal for larger jobs.
Known best for their highly-acclaimed range of stump grinders, the Carlton 1712 provides an ideal balance of capacity, economy and portability. It features a 300 x 440mm throat and 700 x 1200mm infeed hopper opening.
The precision high-speed balanced cutting disc has a diameter of 950mm with 4 knives. Orange Plant have made a number of adaptations to the American base model to make it compliant with all relevant EU legislation, including fitting the machine with a 74hp engine to ensure compliance with engine emission regulations.
Currently on the hire fleet at their Peterborough depot, the 1712 can be re-located if required thanks to Orange Plant's nationwide depot network.
John Compton has already hired the Carlton 1712 multiple times since its introduction to the UK market. A few years ago John purchased a biomass boiler in the aim of making his smallholding as self-sufficient as possible. Since its purchase, the price of woodchip has almost doubled so a more viable source of power was required.
"I've always hired woodchippers from Orange Plant and when I explained my requirements Mark Wilson explained the possible benefits of the new 1712," he said.
"During the demo I was able to put 3.5 tonnes of wood through it in just 45 minutes. With the smaller chippers I was only getting through 6-7 tonnes in a whole day! It's a phenomenal piece of machinery – it's got such power behind it and produces a consistent chip perfect for the boiler. Using the 1712 has significantly contributed towards an approximate 60% reduction in my expenses for woodchip."
