SHB have invested in four brand new 3.5 tonne Iveco Daily "˜Buggy Transporters' to improve the delivery and collection of Buggies to and from events.
The Transporters were built completely to specification by SHB's in-house fabrication teams and will allow for the delivery of buggies to remote locations across the UK, particularly via routes that have weight and size restrictions.
Each vehicle has the capacity to carry up to 1000kgs in weight along with a 7 tonne gross train weight. All of the vehicles have a tachograph fitted, allowing a tow trailer to carry more Buggies should it be required.
Last year SHB invested in four HGV Buggy Buses that have the capability of carrying up to 20 Buggies at once. These vehicles have proven to drastically improve SHB's Buggy operations through mass deliveries to large events, but have obvious restrictions to the locations they can reach given their size and weight. The new LCV Transporters provide an ideal solution to this issue with their ability to access rural locations.
The new additions to SHB's transport fleet will reduce fuel consumption, emissions and ultimately delivery and collection costs compared to the use of the HGV Buggy Buses.
SHB's Managing Director Paul Street said: "Through our continuous improvement plan we are always looking at ways to reduce costs, and improve efficiency across our business. One highlighted area for improvement that we discovered was our Buggy/ATV delivery and collection operations.
"Remote customer locations proved to be an issue particularly with the weight and size of our Buggy Buses. The four Iveco Daily Buggy Transporters have been added to our in-house logistics fleet to provide a solution to this issue."
Each vehicle will be located at different SHB depots up and down the UK, Heathrow, Manchester Romsey and Gloucester. All four vehicles will be put into use from June 2016.
