Spirafix starts new life in South Wales
Spirafix Ground Anchors, based in rural Suffolk, is currently relocating to Newport in South Wales to a new workshop and office building.

"Our ground anchors are great for securely fixing all sorts of projects in hard ground where the Project Manager does not want to use a concrete base or have to carry out any ground preparation," said Nick Land, inventor of the ground anchor.

"They are great for temporary fixings as well – so goals and dugouts are a great example."

Spirafix has been established for some time but now has new and active investors who are based in Newport. The design, manufacture, sales and distribution will now take place from Wern Industrial Estate, Rogerstone in South Wales.

Director Paul Clatworthy said: "These ground anchors are amazing; you can hammer them into hard ground or through tarmac. They have a helical design so they auto rotate into the ground which helps with ease of fixing. You can then simply twist them out' Paul continued "˜they are so easy to fix, remove and reuse that just about anyone could use the smaller anchors very effectively."

Managing Director Tony Morgan added: "This is a great business idea with a lot of potential that we are going to work hard to maximise. The number of uses this product has is incredible because the anchors come in such a wide range of sizes with a large number of specialist fixings or accessories."

Tony who is also MD of MLC Technology Ltd, a company that sells metal recycling shredders across the UK and Europe, continued: "Spirafix has already had great success – the anchors were used to securely fix show jumps at the London Olympics and we had great feedback about how easy they were to deploy, remove and reuse. We're delighted to be involved with such a great product."

Spirafix were used to securely fix equestrian show jumps which needed to be accurately sited to meet Olympic standards. They were chosen because of the ease of use and reuse and received great feedback from the course designer.
