Lawn Master, a national lawn care company in the UK, has become the first of its kind to receive ISO 14001 certification, the internationally agreed standard for the environmental management of businesses.
The standard demonstrates an organisation’s efforts to identify, manage, monitor, control and improve their environmental performance.
It comes six years after the company, whose Headquarters are in Denbighshire, became the first in its sector to achieve ISO 9001 certification, which focuses on the quality management of businesses.
Lawn Master, led by husband and wife team Bob and Rachel Underhill, began treating domestic lawns in the 1990s. They launched a franchise network in 2002, making territories available exclusively to qualified turf professionals to ensure that customers receive a high-quality service. Lawns across the country are now treated by a nationwide network of former greenkeepers and groundstaff from a range of prestigious sporting venues, including Chelsea and Arsenal Football Clubs, the Royal Winchester Golf Club and St. Mellion International.
Managing Director, Bob Underhill, explained why they sought certification: “We undertook ISO 9001 in 2010 because our whole business model is based on providing a high-quality, technically superior service delivered by experienced turf professionals. Key to ISO is the process of continual improvement, and adopting ISO 14001 takes us a step further in that it is independent verification that we take our responsibility for environmental stewardship seriously. When reading our Environmental Policy, our customers, suppliers and the wider industry will know that it stands up to scrutiny, and can be reassured that it’s central to all our business operations.”
