Alpha Rail was recently appointed to manufacture and install school railings and metal gates for Manor Primary School, located in Coseley, West Midlands.
Due to a recent refurbishment, an area of the school which had previously been used for storage had been converted into a classroom. This led to the creation of new playground areas featuring a basketball court and a five a side football pitch.
Part of the new playground layout included a ramp which is used to separate the Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2-year group playgrounds. To help avoid trips and falls, Alpha Rail supplied handrails and balustrade for the ramp. In addition, 60 metres of Playspec™ bowtop railings was installed to create a clear boundary between the two playgrounds for safety purposes.
Alpha Rail also supplied 60 metres of 1100 mm high pedestrian guardrail. Whilst all Alpha Rail metalwork is manufactured to order, this project required some further bespoke metalworking expertise to add a flat top railing feature and supporting handrail on the top of the guardrail.
The final finishing touch was produced by adding a splash of colour to the railings in order to match the school colours and logo. All metalwork was supplied galvanised and powder coated RAL 5005 Signal Blue.
The main building contractor on the project was the Harper Group. Commenting, Luke Williams said, “We are delighted with the professionalism Alpha Rail provided on this project. It was the first time we have used them and their service was good. Everything provided was manufactured to a high standard and has provided a great finishing touch. The playground is now a delightful area for the students of Manor Primary Schools to safely enjoy.”
