ISS wins seventh Gold RoSPA Safety Award

ISS Facility Services Landscaping is proud to have won a further Gold Medal Award at the prestigious Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) Occupational Health and Safety Awards 2017.

The Gold Medal Award is presented to organisations that win five or more consecutive RoSPA Gold Awards and this year will mark the ‘magnificent seventh year’ for ISS who continues to demonstrate sustained excellence in occupational health and safety and commitment to continuous improvement.

Julia Small, RoSPA’s Head of Awards and Events, said: “The RoSPA Awards are the most prestigious in the world of occupational health and safety, and held in high regard around the world, as winning one demonstrates an organisation’s commitment to maintaining an excellent health and safety record. Achieving the standard required is no mean feat.”

Entrants are judged on their overarching occupational health and safety management systems, including practices such as leadership and workforce involvement.

At the top of the agenda at ISS is the commitment to ensuring all members of staff return home safely each and every day. The introduction of an innovative accident reporting and investigation structure has resulted in the creation of a culture of openness and honesty and guarantees critical information can now be accessed within two hours and learning and action disseminated to the wider business in a proactive manner resulting in lower accident rates.

Further initiatives include a weekly text alert service allowing the reinforcement of key messages, ongoing awareness of safety issues and best practice to be delivered to all of our staff at their point of work; and the introduction of Safety Heroes and Safety Leaders to further strengthen staff engagement and assist in identifying and recommending solutions to health and safety issues.

Phil Jones, Managing Director, ISS Facility Services Landscaping said “at ISS safety is our number one priority. Our objective is to secure the health and safety of our employees and those affected by our business activities, ensuring everyone works safely and goes home safely every day. Securing our seventh gold award is a fantastic achievement and reflects the excellent work being carried out on a daily basis by all of our teams in attaining the highest standard of health and safety in the workplace”
