Aebi Schmidt UK, leading provider of winter maintenance, street
sweepers, municipal technology, airport, agricultural and rail technology and
control systems, has been
awarded City & Guilds accreditation for its training course for the Swingo
compact sweeper.
Operators
who complete the Aebi Schmidt training courses, which started on September 12,
will receive a certificate of proficiency, endorsed by City & Guilds, to
show that they have achieved the prescribed quality standards.
The
company also aims to achieve further City and Guilds’ accreditation for
operator, maintenance and technical training for other key pieces of its
street, airport and highways sweeping equipment, including the Stratos III
spreader, Street King 660 truck mounted sweeper and its range of airport
sweeping and cleaning equipment.
City
& Guilds accreditation is a nationally recognised benchmark of quality and
credibility, based on 130 years’ experience in managing quality systems and
training programmes, and authenticates and validates the process and delivery
of a bespoke training programme.
The newly-accredited Aebi Schmidt compact sweeper training course
consists of 19 modules of which seven are compulsory, while a further seven
from the remaining 12 modules must also be completed by entrants to pass the
course.
The
seven compulsory modules are:
- Checking
the vehicle prior to driving
- Carrying out pre-use checks
- Preparing the vehicle prior
to sweeping
- Driving the vehicle correctly
- Using the cab controls
correctly
- Carrying out correct waste
disposal procedures
- Carrying out correct clean
down procedures.
The
modules are set out in a driving test style format including a number of
multiple choice questions, and entrants must complete each one before moving on
to the next.
To
achieve national accreditation, Aebi Schmidt had to demonstrate that not only
did the training modules meet the necessary standards set by City & Guilds,
but that training staff had the necessary levels of skill and experience to be
able to carry out the training modules to the prescribed standards.
The
Training Services division of Aebi Schmidt UK has over 50 years’ experience of
specialist work-related and work-based training, and provides specialist
training to customers for all mechanical street cleansing, highway anti- and
de-icing, snow clearance, mowing and airport equipment.

training modules behind the compact sweeper training course, said: “Naturally,
