Leading designer and manufacturer of playground equipment Sutcliffe Play has added two new inclusive roundabouts to its range.
Sutcliffe Play is passionate about inclusive play and develops most of its equipment with an element of invisible inclusivity that doesn’t compromise on fun.
The new Inclusive 2 Seater Roundabout and Inclusive Scooter Roundabout are both designed to accommodate a wheelchair alongside seated and standing users so that children, adults and carers can enjoy spinning whether they have a disability or not.
Patrick Martin, Design & Development Manager from Sutcliffe Play says: “Through innovative design we create play equipment and spaces that are suitable for children of all abilities but that do not compromise on challenge. The new inclusive roundabout creates a sensation of speed for all users.
“The mechanism we’ve used enables the roundabouts to free run for over two minutes giving users the chance to enjoy the spinning without having to push all the time – more speed, more fun!”
The roundabouts are set in the ground creating a ‘roll on roll off’ design which enables users to exit forward. The non-slip flooring also includes bump stops for wheelchair brakes whilst the units have been constructed using lime green powder coated frames to act as a visual indicator for partially sighted users.
The Inclusive 2 Seater Roundabout accommodates a wheelchair user with four seated users plus a similar number standing whilst the Inclusive Scooter Roundabout accommodates a wheelchair plus two seated and more standing.
