New Doosan excavators and loader at Miller Plant

Miller Plant Limited, based at Inverurie in Aberdeenshire in Scotland, has purchased new Doosan crawler excavators and a new Doosan wheel loader from Balgownie Ltd, the local Authorised Doosan and Bobcat dealer.

Balgownie has supplied new Doosan DX225LC-5 22 tonne and DX255LC-5 25 tonne excavators and a new DL420-5 wheel loader to Miller Plant.

Alan Miller, Managing Director of Miller Plant, said: “We are very happy with the new Doosan machines – they make a good range of excavators, wheel loaders and dump trucks.

"Another important aspect is the service available from Balgownie, who arranged a very attractive package for the machines that includes 5-year warranty.

"As they are doing more than 60 hours a week each, the machines come with the peace of mind that is provided by 5-year warranty cover and Balgownie’s always fast response to our requests and service support.”

Meeting the latest Stage IV emission regulations, the Doosan DX255LC-5 offers enhanced comfort and controllability together with new features to boost uptime and return on investment, with a focus on increased power, robustness and agility. This unparalleled level of excellence is signified by a distinctive new machine styling scheme that is common to all new Doosan ‘-5’ machines.

Whilst overall dimensions are very similar to the previous DX255LC-3 model, the DX255LC-5 Stage IV excavator combines greater power with a 500 kg increase in operating weight, resulting in increases of up to 17% in lifting capacities over both the front and side and a 1 dBA reduction in sound levels.

With a bucket capacity of 4.5 m3, the DL420-5 is powered by the Scania DC13 6-cylinder engine producing 254 kW (345 HP) of power at 1800 rpm. Providing generous torque at low rpm, up to a 10% reduction in fuel consumption and excellent response, the Scania engine meets Stage IV emission regulations without the need of a diesel particulate filter (DPF), through the use of cooled exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) and selective catalyst reduction (SCR) after-treatment technologies.

Powered by the well-proven 6-cylinder, turbocharged Doosan DL06P water-cooled diesel engine, providing a high power output of 124 kW (166 HP) at 1800 RPM, the DX225LC-5 combines plenty of power with high torque at a lower RPM, ensuring smoother, higher torque performance and longevity than some competitors using 4-cylinder engines which run at higher revs. In addition, the DX225LC-5 offers very good performance levels in terms of speed, power and stability, especially the traction force and slew torque which are much higher than those in other machines, while also delivering extra lifting capacity. Machine noise (2000/14/EC, ISO 6395) has been reduced by 1 dBA.

All three of the new Doosan machines at Miller plant are factory-installed with the new DoosanConnect state-of-the-art wireless fleet monitoring system.
