Nominations invited for the 2018 AA Award

Each year the Arboricultural Association seeks to recognise a significant and positive contribution to the arboricultural industry or profession by the presentation of the Arboricultural Association Award to an individual.

The process for nominating a candidate2 to receive the award is as follows:

  • Nominations must be submitted by individuals, not companies or organisations.,/li>
  • Nominations must take the form of a reasoned case of no more than 1000 words detailing the nominee’s achievements and background.
  • Nominations must be submitted to the head office of the Association, marked ‘Association Award Nomination – private and confidential’, for the attention of the CEO, by 30 June.
  • Nominations must be formally proposed and seconded, and must be accompanied by the proposer’s and seconder’s names and written confirmation that they endorse the nomination.
  • The CEO will convene a panel to consider the merits of the various nominations, its deliberations to be concluded by 31 July.

The panel will be composed of the Vice Chairman, a Vice President and the Chair of Professional Committee.

The overriding criterion to be considered when deliberating the relative merits of the nominations is ‘Service to Arboriculture’: the panel will consider nominees’ excellence or their advancement of practice, research, writing, teaching or other relevant service.

It is the role of the award panel to consider the relative merits of the nominations and to determine the recipient of the award.

If the quality of the nominations is unsatisfactory the panel is not obliged to make an award.

The award will be presented to the recipient at the Association’s Annual Conference.
