BALI confirms triple-talks at SALTEX

The British Association of Landscape Industries (BALI) is ready to support its members at SALTEX along with hosting three Learning LIVE seminars.

BALI is once again supporting the leading turf management event for groundscare volunteers, professionals and manufacturers, SALTEX, with its popular BALI Zone, a specialised area of the exhibition (Stands K190a – K190m) that promotes landscape services, including the latest landscaping products, through its Registered members.

New for the BALI Zone in 2018 is an additional welcome space that aims to provide visitors with an attractive and professional BALI-themed networking zone featuring some of its member’s latest machinery and groundscare equipment. The area, which will be dressed with specimen trees and shrubs, will also include several seating areas for visitors to utilise.

For the first time, BALI will also be hosting three separate seminars across the two-day event. Focusing on three specific subject areas; grass breeding and developing sustainable varieties, the latest fertiliser technologies and the Trailblazer Apprenticeship Standards, BALI is hoping the content on offer will impress, educate and stimulate attendees.

BALI’s first guest speaker is Henry Bechelet, Technical Sales Manager for BALI Registered Affiliate ICL Turf & Landscape. Henry is planning to discuss ‘What’s new in fertiliser technology’. The seminar will be held on 31 October 2018 in Seminar Theatre 4 at 11.20am – 11.50am.

BALI’s second guest speaker is Dr David Greenshields, Amenity Product Manager for BALI Registered Affiliate member Barenbrug UK. David has worked for Barenbrug for ten years in a variety of sales, R&D and management roles. David particularly enjoys seeing a new cultivar through final trials before coming to market and advising top sports facilities on grass seed usage.

David’s background was in academia – he has a PhD. in Plant Genetics from Edinburgh University and a Master’s degree in Environmental Biology from St Andrews University. David will be discussing the topic ‘Breeding sustainable grass varieties’ and will be on stage in Theatre 4, 10.40am – 11.10am, on Thursday 1 November 2018.

Finally, BALI’s Technical Director, Neil Huck, who also holds the position of National Group Training Manager for BALI Registered Contractor Ground Control, will be joined by Ros Burnley of Adrow to provide an update on the Landscape Horticultural and Arboriculture and Forestry Trailblazer Apprentice Group and its successful work around apprenticeships within horticulture and landscaping. The seminar will be held in Theatre 1 at 10.00am – 10.50am on Thursday 1 November 2018.
