Countrywide Grounds stockpile tonnes of salt

With winter fast approaching and temperatures plummeting across the UK, Countrywide Grounds Maintenance has stockpiled over 3,000 tonnes of salt ready to keep local communities and businesses safe and on the move.

The national network of 43 Countrywide franchisees are prepared and ready to work around the clock in an effort to enable its customers, which include business parks, hospitals, school, police, distribution and logistic sites and manufacturing factories, to arrive safely at their destinations by clearing footpaths, car parks or access roads.

Many of the franchisees have doubled the amount of salt for the winter ahead and have stockpiled it at their own depots and key customer sites to ensure there is minimal disruption for when the weather gets more hostile.

One Countrywide franchise ready to face the winter with confidence is Anthony Joyce, Regional Manager of Countrywide Teesside.

He commented: “We are all stocked up and ready to do battle with the winter again this year. Once the bad weather arrives, quality salt becomes a lot more difficult to get hold of, so we are really prepared and like to have plenty of supplies now in stock. Our accurate daily weather report from the Met Office allows us to be ready for all winter weather eventualities and to ensure our nine strong team are ready to do their 24/7 shifts across Middleborough and Sunderland.”

Steve Jolly, Regional Manager of Countrywide West Yorkshire, is another business that has been operating a 24/7 service to numerous customer sites across West Yorkshire for the past 13 years for both snow clearance and salt spreading. “To be one step ahead and ensure we can be proactive and as efficient as possible this winter, we have bought twice as much salt. Bad weather can cause huge disruption, particularly for businesses such as factories and distribution sites, so it is more important than ever that we provide a critical service to our customers and have the grit stored on site to avoid business grinding to a halt.”

James Kelly, Chief Operating Officer of Countrywide, added: “Preparations have been in place for a few months already by our Countrywide franchisees to make sure roads, paths and car parks can remain clear this winter. The snow and freezing conditions last winter led to treacherous conditions, causing enormous commotion and a financial loss for many businesses, so we are hoping that this winter won’t be as harsh. But if it is, our franchisees are ready and will raise their game to keep the country moving.”
