Horsetail (also
known as Marestail) is a notorious difficult to kill perennial weed, with its
persistency and extensive deep-roots often proving troublesome for herbicides
containing glyphosate alone to kill.
With cases of
Horsestail showing resistance to glyphosate
becoming frequent across the UK, land owners, gardeners and contractors have
been faced with a huge problem when previous go-to products containing glufosinate were withdrawn from sale in
January 2019.
RSM Maintenance are
based in the East Midlands and have been in the industry for over 20 years and
are contracted to maintain a wide range of areas including highways, amenity,
residential and commercial premises. Horsetail remains one of the toughest and
most frequent weeds that RSM Maintenance must control, with their spray
operators spending a large proportion of time treating areas that quickly
become overrun with the weed.
After becoming
increasingly frustrated and disappointed with the results from applying glyphosate to Horsetail, RSM Maintenance
contacted the BASIS trained technical team at Agrigem for help. ‘Diamond’ (a
brand-new product that is exclusive to Agrigem and their distributors) contains
active ingredients (160g/l of 2,4-d +
240g/l of glyphosate) that offer quicker
control of tough weeds, as well as penetrating deeper into the root system than
glyphosate alone.
