Toro unveils new sustainable battery-powered products

The Toro Company, a global leader in turf and landscape equipment, has revealed its latest addition of environmentally-friendly products – the Flex-Force battery range.

Launching in the UK spring 2020, the range will include a 55cm (22”) battery mower, a brushless leaf blower and a brushless string trimmer all powered by the new Flex-Force Power System™ featuring 60V[ lithium-ion technology.

The Flex-Force products are powered by a heavy duty, quick charging lithium-ion-battery to optimise run time and output. The battery is interchangeable between the products within the range to offer users maximum flexibility and ‘Easy Power’ to get the job done.

Each Flex-Force item can be purchased with or without chargers and batteries, with spares available for separate purchase to fully customise the Flex-Force system to the user’s individual needs.

The first item in the Flex-Force range is the 55cm (22”) Recycler 60V mower. This multi-functional mower is equipped with the Toro Easy Start function and Recycler system. With the push of a button the mower automatically starts and with its Automatic Drive System it will adjust its speed to the operator’s pace.

The Recycler system re-cuts the grass trimmings into fine mulch and returns them to the soil for added nutrients and a healthier lawn. Other features include a steel deck for added durability, a 55cm cutting blade – the longest blade in its class - for efficiency and the much loved SMARTSTOW function, which allows the mower to be stored upright, reducing the storage footprint by up to 70 percent.

The mower also boasts the Toro ‘RunSmart’ power system which saves energy by intuitively increasing power in moments where needed to ensure a longer battery life and runtime.

Also part of the Toro Flex-Force line is the 60V leaf blower. The new blower comes with a variable speed trigger and turbo-boost button for extra power when needed as well as a ‘cruise control’ feature making the blower easier on the hands and to reduce operator fatigue.

Boasting an impressive 115mph air speed paired with 605 CFM of air volume the Flex-Force blower delivers both high power and long run time, making it extremely efficient when moving large piles of wet leaves.

The final product in the Flex-Force line-up is the 60V cordless string trimmer. This highly versatile string trimmer allows users to adjust the line, size and cutting length to find the perfect performance and angle for any job. With a variable speed trigger, and two speed settings, users can adjust the cutting power to raise and lower intensity to suit the terrain and enable higher performance where needed and an overall longer battery life.

Built with a high-performance brushless DC motor, the Flex-Force string trimmer boasts a rugged cast-aluminium direct-drive head to provide a long product life with little maintenance. Line replacement is quick and easy with no spools required – just thread the line and spin the dial.

Christopher Cooper, Senior Product Marketing Manager for Toro said: “We are pleased to be launching the new Flex-Force range offering a range of green-powered products that doesn’t compromise on power or results.

“There’s a common perception that choosing a cordless battery-powered product means compromising on power or features but that’s not the case with the Flex-Force line. We work hard to ensure the same design and performance as customers are used to in our non-battery powered equipment, with all the environmental benefits of using a battery.”

The Flex-Range comes with three batteries available for any application – the L135 battery (2.5 ah), for compact power and perfect for hand tools. Moving on to the L324 battery (6.0 ah) which provides versatile power and will easily mow a small to medium garden, with power to spare for any trimming or blowing needed. Finally, the L405 battery (7.5 ah) which will provide heavy duty power for mowing a large garden, with plenty of extended power for trimming and blowing.

All Flex-Force products come with a three-year warranty, which will include the battery and mower as standard, and will be available in dealerships from spring 2020.
