Zaun, a privately-owned British manufacturer of advanced security fencing products, was chosen to supply high-security temporary fencing at the recent G7 Summit.
Protecting world leaders who gathered in Cornwall later this month, the UK hosted the first G7 Summit since the Covid pandemic began.
The high-profile guest list included US President Joe Biden, who made his first official visit to the UK. He joined other world leaders from major world economies, including UK, Japan, Canada, Germany, France and Italy. The UK Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, described this year’s G7 Summit as a ‘crucial event’ as leaders addressed unprecedented public health and economic issues.
Centred at Carbis Bay near St Ives, the Summit also used other venues across Cornwall, while media and the many hundreds of people making up the support teams were accommodated in locations some distance from the main site.
The G7 leaders themselves stayed at the Tregenna Castle Hotel in St Ives. “The G7 Summit is a major event representing one of the world’s most demanding security challenges,” said Steve Roberts, Marketing Manager for Zaun Limited.
“We’re very pleased to have been chosen to provide vital perimeter security fencing around the key venues used by the world leaders and their teams. It’s a strong endorsement of the high quality work of our design and manufacturing teams and our focus on delivering even the most demanding of customer requirements,”
With the world’s media covering every detail of the Summit and protests from various groups in progress well before the leaders even arrive, Zaun tested security measures to the limits.
Based in the West Midlands, Zaun is supplying their Rapidly Deployable System RDS Original to prevent hostile vehicles from forcibly entering secure zones. The product’s high-performance specifications, combined with its flexibility, delivering rapid deployment and easy installation without ground anchoring, make Zaun fencing an ideal choice for an event where security will be a top priority.
In addition, the system’s advanced design features give the product capabilities normally only seen on permanent installations and have been used on most of the UK’s largest major events.
