DHF sponsors 2024 AFI Awards

Door & Hardware Federation (DHF) has announced that it will be sponsoring the 2024 AFI (Association of Fencing Industries) awards taking place on Thursday 17th October 2024 at St James Park in Newcastle.

The awards recognise and promote the skills, innovation and work of the fencing industry with the categories enabling all of the fencing sector to demonstrate its work and give recognition to its organisations and workforce.

“DHF is very proud to be sponsoring the Gates & Barriers Contractor of the Year Award for a consecutive year,” explains DHF’s Commercial Director, Patricia Sowsbery-Stevens. “As a sponsor, we will have a representative from DHF on the judging panel to select finalists and winners.

“Entries will be judged on the complexity of the installation and design work to complete the project, focusing upon the complexity, the project’s longstanding beneficial effect for the environment and the community in general, client references and the presentation.

“The ‘Gate & Barrier’ award also requires entries to include a RAMS (Risk Assessment Method Statement), Compliance & Residual Risk Assessment and a Declaration of Conformity to demonstrate safety and compliance of the finished installation. There is a close synergy between AFI and DHF, so we are delighted to be involved.”

DHF has been involved in the automatic gate industry since 2011 when it formed the Automated Gate Group. The Group now has 327 members and has played a major role in raising the industry understanding about the safety elements involved in a compliant and safe gate installation. It offers a number of gate safety training courses which can be taken online or at its training academy based near Tamworth.

The Association of Fencing Industries exists to promote safety, quality and professionalism throughout the fencing industry. It represents members across the UK fencing industry, ensuring members are kept up to date with industry news, technical information, and business opportunities available within its network.

Its awards programme highlights the important work the fencing industry does in the many diverse areas of the sector and promotes excellence and innovation, industry wide. There are ten award categories open to contractors, distributors, and manufacturers with installer networks, covering areas within the industry ranging from agricultural and equine, to highways and railways, and gates and barriers. Entries close on 30th June 2024 and are open to all industry professionals, not just AFI members.
