The greens are bonny at Bonnyton thanks to INFINICUT delivery

An outstanding quality of cut is what sealed the deal on the purchase of three INFINICUT FL22 pedestrian mowers for the team at Bonnyton Golf Club.

The Glasgow venue is known as ‘Augusta National’s Scottish Sibling’, with the 18-hole moorland course boasting a challenging combination of plateau and undulating greens – all now prepared with a first-class finish thanks to the delivery of the trio in March 2024.

Augusta National designer and world-famous course architect Dr Alister Mackenzie oversaw the design of Bonnyton Golf Club in the early 1920’s, with the maintenance under the watchful eye of, now Course Manager, Stuart Macdonald for the last 37 years.

After recently installing a fully electric ride-on mower, Stuart explains that while the INFINICUT’s being battery-powered was an added bonus, it wasn’t the driving factor. “We’ve used pedestrian mowers as long as I’ve been here for the benefits these bring to playability, presentation and plant health. We made sure we explored all of the options available – both engine and battery alternatives – to find the best option.”

“The consensus was that the fully-floating head design, together with the precision adjustment and quality of cut made the INFINICUT’s the right choice.”

The INFINICUT FL22 is widely recognised as the most advanced cylinder mower on the market, engineered to suit the specific set of requirements demanded for fine turf applications. This floating head model delivers an accurate, clean cut and unparalleled contour following ability, placing the focus firmly on the finish even on undulating ground. It is also the only professional mower to feature full Bluetooth connectivity, offering the quick and easy alteration of a range of mower parameters via the InfiniApp.

“I’m sure we’re yet to unlock the full potential of the app but we’re already finding it makes the initial set up of the machines so easy” Stuart explains. “One thing the whole team have commented on is the ‘tilt and turn’ feature which automatically detects and lowers the reel speed when the mower is lifted at the end of the line. Little things like this just make the job that much more straight forward.”

“Charging them has become routine and the battery life hasn’t even come into question” Stuart adds. “We’ve also had some nice comments from the members about the condition of the greens which shows they’re already making a positive difference.”
