The Arboricultural Association is pleased to announce that Neil Davies was elected as the 28th Chair of Trustees at the 58th Annual General Meeting (AGM).
The Association would like to thank outgoing Chair Michelle Ryan for her outstanding commitment and contribution in delivering its aims and vision, as the longest serving chair in the organisation’s history.
Michelle chaired from August 2020, also becoming the youngest Chair and first female Chair of the Association. She has overseen many changes and strengthened numerous areas including the liaison between the board of trustees and staff, governance and improving its relationship to the staff and members.
Michelle will be remaining on the Board of Trustees and serving as vice chair for the next 12 months in order to assist Neil with the transition.
Rob Murison was re-elected as Treasurer, with Liz Nicholls and Sarah Armstrong reappointed as Co-opted Trustees. Laura Ancell, Senior Digital Broadcast Journalist at the BBC, was also co-opted as a Trustee for the first time. Alan Simson, Keith Sacre, Sarah Kiss, Stella Bolam, Steve Westmore and Paul Barton all remain on the Board. We would like to thank all our Trustees for their continued support.
New chair Neil Davies joined the Board of Trustees in 2022, wanting to get more involved after appreciating what the Association had been doing throughout Covid to support the arboricultural profession. After almost 30 years in the industry, Neil is keen to give back and to support the next generations of professionals, while continuing to strive for increased recognition of arboriculture as a highly skilled profession.
He is passionate about getting involved in the promotion of our industry to others and helping raise our profile as pragmatic problem solvers, not problem makers. He is also keen to share knowledge and inspire others: “I’m great with young people and truly passionate about sharing my experiences to help the next generations of our profession.”
