Hatts Group, a family-run contracting business, is delivering pristine hedge cutting for their customers with Major Rotary Hedge Cutter.
With clients like the MoD, USAF and National Highway projects, the Hatts Group also manages hedge cutting in over 10,000 acres of farmland.

Their previous flail head decks, while effective, failed to meet demands for a clean, professional finish and created debris hazards. Benny Hattersley is the business’s second-generation owner. “We are really impressed with the quality of the machine.
The new style of hedge cutting head offers our customers a qualify finish way ahead of anything we had before,” explained Benny.
The MJ39-143 model, mounted on their Energreen self-propelled unit, uses less horsepower and offers easier maintenance than traditional flail systems. With two rotors and four blades per rotor, the rotary head delivers a fine mulch without the debris associated with flails.
Maintenance is quick, requiring just greasing and occasional blade sharpening. Fuel savings are significant, with the MJ39 cutting fuel consumption by 250 litres of fuel weekly, saving the company £180-200 per week.
Benny praises the quieter operation and quality finish, which satisfies customers and makes the process safer. After a successful first season, Hatts Group plans to add more MJ39 units to their fleet, replacing high-maintenance flails.
