Marshalls has launched MaDE – Marshalls Design and Engineering – a dedicated team of designers, engineers and digital specialists created to help customers transform ambitious design concepts into buildable, sustainable and high-performing places.
Bringing together Marshalls' established design, engineering and digital expertise under a single consultancy-led identity, MaDE has been designed to make it easier for customers to bring specialist expertise into their projects, where it can have the greatest impact on creativity, buildability and long-term performance.
Built around the belief that the best landscapes are both beautiful and buildable, the MaDE team works alongside customers from concept through to delivery, combining creative thinking with technical precision to help realise design intent, overcome constraints and create places that perform in the real world.

By engaging MaDE early, customers gain direct access to specialists who can help develop concepts, solve technical challenges, explore bespoke solutions and unlock opportunities that might otherwise be constrained by cost, complexity or buildability concerns.
The new structure simplifies the Marshalls Design and Engineering offer into three core pillars:
Supported by specialist expertise across pavement engineering, SuDS design, bespoke natural stone features, customised and bespoke street furniture, hostile vehicle mitigation, BIM modelling and digital visualisation and rendering.
The repositioning follows extensive customer and internal research which found that while the expertise within the team was highly valued by those who had worked with it, awareness of the full breadth of support available remained relatively low across the wider market. The findings also highlighted growing demand for earlier-stage collaboration, direct access to technical expertise and greater confidence around buildability and project performance.
Phil Storey, Head of Design and Engineering at Marshalls, said: "For many years, our design and engineering specialists have been helping customers bring ambitious ideas to life. What became clear through this process is that while customers value the support they receive, many don't fully understand the breadth of expertise available or when they should engage us.
"MaDE gives us a clearer way to bring that expertise to the forefront. More importantly, it reinforces our belief that the earlier we become involved in a project, the more value we can create. Whether that's helping realise a design vision, overcoming technical challenges or identifying opportunities to improve sustainability and long-term performance.
"The most successful projects balance creativity with practicality. MaDE exists to help designers achieve more by bringing creative thinking, engineering expertise and technical confidence together from the very beginning of a project.
"As projects become increasingly complex, customers need partners who can bridge the gap between design ambition and buildable reality. That's exactly the role MaDE has been created to fulfil."
The launch will be supported by an integrated campaign throughout 2026, including thought leadership, CPDs, case studies and digital content designed to showcase the people, creativity and ingenuity behind the consultancy.
Marshalls' long-term ambition for MaDE is to position design and engineering at the heart of commercial landscaping conversations, helping customers unlock creativity, simplify complexity and create better places through smarter, more collaborative design.
