The Turfgrass Growers Association (TGA) is the UK’s leading association representing professional turfgrass growers and the wider natural turf industry.
Since 1995, the association has worked to promote high standards in turf production, support industry collaboration, and champion the environmental and practical benefits of natural turf.
At GroundsFest 2026, the TGA will be showcasing the importance of professionally grown natural turf and highlighting the role turfgrass continues to play within landscaping, sport, amenity, and urban green infrastructure.
The association represents growers producing turf for a wide range of applications, including domestic lawns, sports surfaces, landscaping projects and environmental schemes.
A key focus for the TGA is the promotion of quality standards within the industry. The association developed the TGA Quality Standards for Cultivated Turf, helping to provide growers, landscapers, and end users with confidence in the quality, consistency and professionalism of TGA member-grown turf. These standards cover areas such as turf composition, strength, soil thickness, cutting height and overall turf health.
The association is also heavily involved in wider industry discussions around sustainability and environmental responsibility. Earlier this year, the TGA announced a landmark decision to ban the use of plastic netting in turf production by member growers from October 2026 onwards, following overwhelming support from members. The move reflects the association’s ongoing commitment to improving sustainability within turf production and responding to growing concerns around plastics in landscaping and horticulture.
Alongside sustainability, the TGA continues to advocate for the benefits of natural turf in the built environment. Recent industry messaging has focused on the importance of quality lawns within new housing developments, highlighting the role natural turf can play in cooling, flood mitigation, biodiversity and wellbeing.
